Golden Smallie

I caught this smallie in the West Branch of the Susky last weekend. Can't ever remember catching one this color. The black outline on it's tail and very red eye combined with it's golden yellow color really made it a beautiful fish.

This is the normal color of my smallies.

Anyone else ever catch a golden smallie.

The essence of the shot is how you shoot the bird, not how many. George Bird Evans

Re: Golden Smallie

Must be a geographical thing.

I've caught gads of them (in the 5-10 inch range) in that coloration on the Mahonings in Indiana Co.

Re: Golden Smallie

I have caught them when the water was off color, on the muddy side.

Re: Golden Smallie

Yeah, water color will affect fish color.
