what do you use?

I just bought one of those mineral licks that is flavored with apple. I was wondering what everyone uses in front of their trail cams?

Re: what do you use?

Sometimes i use them but I don't like how if it rains and it soaks into the ground i intend to hunt around, well you get the idea. I don't like to hunt that way. So I usually use any kind of bait you can think of. Corn is good and a trick to use is to really scatter it- don't put it in pile. that way the deer have to take time and root for it. Peanut butter is kinda goofy to use too, buck seem to love it. The commercial stuff is really good too- but that gets pricy

Re: what do you use?

Put the mineral lick on top of a cut tree stump. That way you can move the stump. The salt dissolves into the stump and the deer will pick at the wood.

Your spot I NEVER go back
My spot I expect the same

Re: what do you use?

I have a mineral salt block from Tractor Supply and a Trophy Rock. Prior to using the trophy rock, I used the Sportsman's Choice blocks but the coons (and bears) enjoy them a little too much. I'll have a load of 1800 pictures with the SC blocks and about 10 of them will be deer. The rest is pretty much a mass of coons decimating the blocks.

trophy rock, deer destroy it, especially this time of year.

It's not an addiction, its my passion.

Re: what do you use?

I don't use any bait. I try to capture natural movements like movement to food sources. During actual season I'll put the cameras catching them moving into escape cover.

I miss my hunting partner
