Re: is it early for antler growth?

bigbuck78: Some deer shed antlers in December of 2011 (last year) which is not normal. If this deer even shed in early January 2012, it would have well advanced antler growth.
The weather has been very mixed up, unstable the last couple of years, which may have caused things like this to happen.
In a recent post, I submitted a picture and video of a buck still carrying one antler as of 13th. April 2012. This is very rare for my area. About a month or more ago I submitted a video showing a buck with one antler on the same side. Coincidence, or is it the same buck??? I had one on another video using a camera and near the location showing a buck with small stubs similiar to the one on the right in the above picture you posted.
Thanks for sharing.

Nope... could have shed early and got an extra little headstart, or he could just be a nice buck.

Nice healthy mature deer there. They got an early start this year with a lack of winter. That should be a great buck come fall.
All deer will appear to look like roadkill this time of year. They are shedding winter hair and look horrible.

I have 3 bucks about the same size as that. I hope one of them is the big boy I was after last year. I looked all over for sheds but never found any.

Blend in or go hungry !!

Nice. Starting to split already. I got some pics similar to yours on my last check. Gonna pull again this week. Hoping for some more growth.

Re: is it early for antler growth?

its getting close to turkey time, usually when im turkey hunting i have seen bucks that have split forks like you are showing already. Seems early but its not that early. always good to see horn growth though. i've seen them end of may with what you are showing with this guy...you know yourself that buck might not turn into a shooter that year.
