New Trail Cam Onwer

I just got my first trail cam. Been doing a lot of research on the do's and don't's. As far as using a minerals for a bait site. Are we allowed to use them only when there is no deer seasons?

Minerals on private land, all residue must be gone within I believe 30 days. Which, if and when the officer wants to get all CSI and be overzealous, it is basically impossible to remove all the mineral residue from soil.

Also worth noting minerals are illegal year round on all public land that I am aware of.

A good substitute is scrapes, or more accurately, licking braches. They are active year round.

I believe you can BUT it has to be cleaned up and removed 30 days prior to season ,but check with your digest or PGC website. so you don't get trouble

Trail cams are addicting. Pretty soon you will have a half dozen. Have fun.

I just throw out a little shelled corn. It slows them down for some good pics and also attracts turkeys and some other game.

I use trophy rock mineral lick ! It last a long time and helps the does while carrying fawns and gets bucks back into shape after the rut !

I put out a mineral block once deer season is over in my area, some corn and oats for the winter months, and keep a check on my pics to see when the bucks have dropped their antlers and then go shed hunting.....Then about 45 days before archery season I take and throw dirt over the area and rake it where the salt lick was and plant clover and it is now a legal food plot.....Go figure.....
