Pear tree bucks

I noticed the pears are starting to fall on our farm and every year this one pear tree attracts a lot of bucks. I finally put a camera on the pear with a small brick size salt block. I got pictures of eight different bucks so far and a few decent bucks, but mostly small so far. Usually the pears are all down by mid August and hopefully some big buck will show up. I have never killed a buck that has posed for pictures during the pearpalooza, but the pictures always get me fired up for the season. I guess next trip to the pear I need to reset date and time.

Great pics, thanks for sharing! The buck in pic 2 has some sweet junk happening on his right side.

Do you know what kind of pear tree you have?

I think it's a big mature Bartlett pear tree that must be 30 foot tall and every year it seems to be loaded with pears. From what I remember it was a mature tree back in 1979 when I first started hunting this farm. Deer seem to come from every where for these pears when they start dropping. Every year I say I am going to prune it, but never have. A lot of the neighboring farms spend a lot more money on their hay fields then I do plus most have corn also, but pears will trump all other food sources when deer can get them. By late August or so the pears will be gone and the deer will be too. Some I will see again during the rut some nobody ever see's again. But it's always nice to know there's a nice buck living in a mile or two radius from you and at anytime one can show up.

The older I get the better I was.
