Sorry to hear of this - the world is definitely a lesser place. I, too, loved his stuff. As said above, his piece often got read first when the magazine arrived. I recall one on him and his buddy experimenting with blackpowder.........nowadays I'm pretty sure he may not be able to find a publisher cuz of what would be considered the dangerous aspects of the piece, esp with kids. But I understood it was humor, and had been raised to understand the difference between the two, and how to enjoy each. Anyhoo, that article had me laughing soooo hard after a long day on the farm, that I was literally laying on the floor and couldn't breathe for a while. My Mom walked in and saw me and thought something medical was wrong with me! LOL! Good times.....thank you sir! You are missed and we are lesser.

I believe that piece was entitled "Poof! No eyebrows" or something similar.

I was reading his books in the hospital when staying with my wife after our third child was born. I wasn't able to keep quiet and not laugh, and it woke up my wife. That wasn't good, lol.

Yep I think his books are the only thing I have ever read and laughed out loud...... Pretty sure I've read most if not all but not for probably 20+ years.......great stuff! I might have to dig them out now.

You need to think faster on your feet, kid. When she looked at you cross, you should have said, "But Pumpkin, you know it's almost hunting season. So I'm reading all these funny hunting stories so I can relay them to all the fellas when we are at camp the next 2 weeks".

Ironically, Isabella was born on November 7.

I used to laugh so hard I'd choke, when I read Pat's stories. I have some of his books too. We were so much like his stories growing up. We were always in the creeks, woods, fields, building treehouses, camping out.
