Looking to buy beginner rifle

Good evening. I am looking to buy an entry level hunting rifle that would be used primarily for whitetail. I am a shotgun hunter but am going to be making an entry into rifle hunting.
Due to this. And due to my doting wife. I have a budget. Due to this I am looking for low end entry level, or your used beat up but clean bore rifles that you just don’t use anymore or have upgraded. I don’t need pretty, I need functional.

Let me know what you have. I am interested in 30-06, .308, .270, or any good deer round chambered.

I agree with jeffppc, make sure it fits you well. if you have some friends with the calibers you want ,ask them to try and shoot them to see if like any of them. good luck on your decision

Remington 783. Good reviews. Upgrade the scope in a couple years if you want or keep it. https://www.sportsmans.com/shooting-...rifle/p/p48549

I have a Remington Model 7 308 with a Leupold VX2 scope that might be a bit nicer than what you are looking for.

I would take a look at the savage axis if you are on a budget very good rifle for the money i have one that groups 1/2 inch at the 100 yd mark.
