Arrow numbers ?

Can someone clarify the meaning of the numbers on aluminum arrows like Eastons. Like for example 2117 has been around for as long as I can remember. When I bought my last bow, the shop set me up with 2217 arrows ? Is it the weight, diameter ?

Re: Arrow numbers ?

I believe the first 2 numbers are the diameter in 64ths of an inch and the second 2 numbers are wall thickness in thousands of an inch. EXAMPLE..2217 equals a diameter of 22/64" with a wall thickness if .017". Hope this helps.
