Parker Challenger... shattered!

Tonight while my 8 year old daughter was shooting her Parker Challenger with me along side her it shattered. She shot 8 bolts through it and as I was giving her some additional instructions before her 9th shot I heard a pop. I quickly told her to get up on the porch and I looked at the limbs. I could see the left one was de-laminating quickly as the crossbow was cocked. I placed it on the ground and joined her on the porch listening to the pops as it was still cocked. After about 1 minute it let loose and the limb shattered. I will be returning it to the dealer I bought it from hoping for a full refund. It is less than a year old and has less than 100 shots through it. We check it every time we shoot with a cotton ball to see if there are any "snags"...nothing today or any other day. I was very angry as I realized she could have been injured or blinded.

On a side note (and I guess this is a good thing...even thought I hate to see her upset) my daughter was crying and very sad....... because she thought she would have to wait another year to hunt! When I told her I'd get her another one and if she keeps practicing she can still hunt this year she was all smiles!

Re: Parker Challenger... shattered!

thankfully no one was hurt.
I gave up on parker a long time ago, their products continue to fail or be faulty.

Been seeing it more and more with Parker's lately. Best of luck on a refund. I suspect you will receive a new front end for the bow instead.

I support all hunters, regardless of weapon or technique!

Re: Parker Challenger... shattered!

I am really sorry to see her bow break. But let me tell ya folks something... All bow manufactures have bows that break. Its not only Parker. Bowtech,mathews,hoyt,10 point, excal, barmentt, etc etc.. People they all break at times. Also I am sure that the bow will be replaced or new limbs sent out.

I would be willing to bet that the bow will be fixed in less then 2 weeks.

will hunt for food....

Re: Parker Challenger... shattered!

I shot a Challenger a few weeks ago. It is a great size for youth hunters. Part of me almost wishes that I bought one for my kids, but I wasn't really impressed with the quality of the bow.
