Bohning ends partnership with Middleton

Really too bad when I saw this yesterday. Middleton is a small recurve crossbow company out of Ontario that produces very nice bows known for their durability. They needed cash to grow and expand their business and Bohning Archery stepped up to the plate to partner with them.

Well, looks like Middleton just couldn't meet the expectations that were agreed upon and Bohning pulled the plug yesterday. Here is the press release below. I like the bows and Arrowhead has been shooting one for several years now.

"Lake City, Michigan - Bohning Archery ends relationship with Middleton Crossbows

Effective immediately The Bohning Company, Ltd. has ended its relationship with Middleton Crossbows of Burlington,
ON, Canada, and has discontinued the Siege line of products.

Unfortunately, we were unable to attain the quality standards and on time delivery that Bohning demands for our customers.

Any further questions regarding Middleton Crossbows should be directed to Derrick Middleton (289) 400-8875, [email protected].

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause for any of our partners.

Please contact Bohning immediately to arrange a return and reimbursement, if you have purchased a Siege Crossbow from the Bohning Company, Ltd.

The Bohning Company, Ltd. remains active in the crossbow market with our full line of accessories including Bolt Back Packs, crossbow nocks, the Top Mount, Lightning Lube, fletching jigs, and quivers.
Please direct any questions to [email protected] or 231-229-4247."

Wow!! That is a shame. I was really hoping that line would takeoff when Bohning got involved. I do commend and respect Bohning that they are accepting returns and reimbursement for the crossbows. Also that they would end a partnership if they felt their customers weren't getting the service that they deserved.

Re: Bohning ends partnership with Middleton

I was surprised as well when Bohning offered a full refund for purchased crossbows. I guess they want their hands completely washed of the whole deal. Middleton is a very small outfit and I suspect that they promised a quicker delivery turnaround and just couldn't meet it.

Could be Bohning wanted to decrease or eliminate liabilty. You have Middleton,a small company making crossbows.Enter Bohning to back them up financially and be open to any law suits that occur.Covering a small company financially comes with risk and possible reward.I would bet that the contract between the two companies had wording to that effect. You always sue the person or company with the most money first.Lol.

This truly is sad news to hear. I found out last night and felt like I had been knocked over. Middleton has a wonderful crossbow and I looked forward to this partnership. There will be many more start-ups come and go as crossbows gain momentum.
