Excaliber : Which one to buy and why?

I'm thinking about getting a cross bow. I started bow hunting in 1975 but dropped out about 10 years ago. I like hunt with the bird dogs more, but I can't seem to walk all day anymore. Getting old! I like the simplicity of the recurve cross bow. What model would you suggest and why? Any tips on where to buy?

I like the 175 lb. models. They are fun to shoot and I can cock them for a longer session, at the range. The 200 and 225 lb. models wear me out to quickly. The Ibex and Axiom models no longer have the metal barrels and this makes for a very lightweight crossbow. Easy to carry, easy to cock and servings/strings last much longer. Great bows that do what you ask of them with little in the way of maintenance.
If you buy from me, I can mix and match accessories so that you get exactly what you want. Click the link below or at the top of this page.

I like the Vortex which is a 200lb model. It gives you a little more speed than the 175lb and still isn't bad to cock. The 175 lb models have plenty of speed and power to kill any deer on the planet though. Here is a pic of my Vortex.

Forgot to add. As to where to buy there is no doubt that there is none better than Arrowhead (Mike) Click on his link to get his phone number. He could probably help narrow down a model based upon your preferences.

I would get the 175lb model. My son and I have both the 175 and 200 here. His is easier to cock and arrow penetration in our target is virtually the same.I know 25lbs don't seem like much but at 52 I can feel a big difference. It might be the length of the bow,I don't know.Arrowhead will explain that all to you how draw weight works on Excals.Good luck they are great bows.He is the guy to deal with.

My dad (67) and myself have the Equinox and my son (14) has the Vortex. My dad cocks it with no problems just make sure you shorten the rope up so you have to pull the bow string 2 or 3 inches. These bows shoot great and no problems.

Maybe if you are bad he will drop you off an Exclipse XT. In case you haven't seen it, it is a all black version of the Vortex.
