Here is how it went down October 8th 2012, Mercer County, New Jersey. Sitting at work thinking I would love to be out today, the coldest day so far. I said heck with it and took half day vacation. Got on stand about 1:30 PM. At 6 PM this buck pictured entered a field about 125-50 yards away. He was with another 6 point and 4 doe. They were kind of far off and feeding so I didnít expect them to enter woods again. I gave out some loud grunts and got their attention. They didnít come running but did alter their travel direction toward me and to the left. I lost sight of them rather quickly due to only having a small window from the woods to view the field. I continued to do soft grunts every 5 minutes. At 6:30 PM I heard some movement to my left. To my surprise it was this buck. He worked his way to the grunts 30 min after first contact. He turned broadside and continued to walk. I made a funny sound with my mouth and he froze. I then took the 30 yard shot. (Excalibur Equinox, mechanical broad heads) Waited a little over an hour and a friend and I returned. Found the deer lying dead 40 yards from shot. Overall I saw 3 bucks and 12 Doe/Button bucks. This 8 wasnít the biggest I seen this hunt. Seen a bigger one about 5 PM for the second time but he went in different direction. I thought about holding out for that one but decided not to pass this one.
