bolt retrievel

this is my first year hunting with a crossbow and i am a little worried that if i take a ground shot my bolt will never be found? any opinions?

Get a small discharge target. Morrell and Rinehardt both make one. They are pretty cheap an will fit behind your seat.

Traditions only last if you pass them down to your kids!

i mean taking a shot at a deer from the ground, not being angled down, who knows where it will end up

I like to use a lighted nock while hunting. It makes it much easier to find your arrow and check it for signs of a hit.

I don't worry about that too much. You could use Lumenoks and that makes finding them easier. If the arrow goes thru the deer even when shooting from the ground it usually doesn't travel too far beyond the deer. That being said sometimes it goes in some different angle depending on what it hits.
