Darton Crossbows

Have any of you ever shot one ? I know I may be coming across as a "fan boy" here with with my avatar but I visit this forum from time to time and I never see Darton being mentioned.
I shoot a compound and have always been impressed with their product, so I figured if they put a crossbow out that it would be a solid piece of equipment.
Just wondering if there are any Darton crossbow shooters out there ?

Re: Darton Crossbows

Darton is one of those often overlooked bows, especially in the crossbow world. This is one of the few brands I have never shot. One of my fellow contributors at Crossbow Magazine is our bow reviewer. He has reviewed several Darton and had nothing but positive to say about them. You rarely hear of any problems with Darton bows. Both of the vertical and horizontal variety.

Re: Darton Crossbows

I really like it ! My last bow was also a Darton and over 11 years old. The only reason I got the 3800 was because I was getting married last year and wanted to treat myself before I had other financial reponsibilities.
To be honest it took a lot of tweaking at first. My major issue was that I went to a sub par bow shop that sold me underspined arrows and had me shooting the wrong drsw length. (They were not a Darton dealer) Also, with my old bow I was shooting aluminum arrows and 125 grain broadheads. With the combination of increased speed and a improper setup I began to miss badly. It was somethng I was not use to and ended up developing a bad case of target pancic. After a month of frustration I broke down and went to a new shop. The tech corrected everything for me and cut new arrows. I instantly started shooting better and also got a better release a few weeks ago which improved my shooting even more. Now I am shooting at 53 yards grouping arrows that would hit a softball.
I never thought I could shoot that well from those distances.
It truly is a great hunting bow. I have also learned that you can never underestimate the value of a good bow shop when it comes to setting up your bow. I had something that worked well for 11 years and just assumed this new bow would be fine, but it really takes some knowledge and experience to get any type of archery equipment to perfom to the best of its ability.

Re: Darton Crossbows

I had a Darton Impact years ago, it was a real hard hitting crossbow, ended up trading it to arrowhead. I shot real well.

It looks like I'm all set up with Darton. I can hardly wait for the bows to get here.
