Maximus Crossbow Status

I want to pass along to the others on this forum my experience with Maximus Crossbow and what I surmise to be their current status.

In January, I purchased one of their original bows, a Bonesplitter 225, at a sports show and was given incorrect information about the bow. I posted a question on the Crossbow Nation forum to verify the information and found out the information was incorrect. I also purchased a Wicked Ridge bow at a closeout price and was about to return the Maximus Bonesplitter when Paul Vaicunas, then president of the company, made an offer to sell me one of their new bows for the difference in price and I could keep the original bow...what a good deal right??? I returned the Wicked Ridge bow and began the wait until the new bows were produced....

Now to the present. After attempting to take Paul and Maximus up on the offer (without success), I have learned that Paul has resigned as president of the company. The phone number for Maximus isn't working and some think the company has either closed or is about to close.

If you are considering purchasing one of their bows, please make sure the company is actually in business to support the bow down the road.

I wish this story had a better ending .

Re: Maximus Crossbow Status

There are alot of rumors currently floating around about Maximus. I have not heard any facts though about them yet. Hopefully they can stay afloat because from what I heard they had some nice innovations in their lineup. I hope PaTurkeyHntr that your story has a happy ending as well. You definately have some good points though about sticking with companies that have a good track record such as Tenpoint, Excalibur, Parker, and some others. Of course with the current economy it is hard to say what companies will be here 6 months or 6 years down the road.

Traditions only last if you pass them down to your kids!

Re: Maximus Crossbow Status

As Cspot said, alot of rumors floating around. I am pretty sure that Paul V. leaving is indeed fact.

I hope they can right the ship, whoever is in charge. Paul took a company that manufactuered all of their crossbows in China and moved the operation to the United States. They brought some truly innovative bows to the ATA and folks were genuinely excited about seeing these bows hitting the street.

I am hearing the money simply dried up with no more willing investors to keep it going. Apparently, there are some bows that did make it to some ditributors. I would recommend that folks hold off on buying one if you come across one until this situation is striaghtened out.

This just shows how hard it truly is to break into the market these days. Many try but only a few succeed.

I support all hunters, regardless of weapon or technique!
