Can someone recommend me a basic crossbow...

That ships from Amazon and uses its Prime service.

I'm looking for something very basic that someone with no archery experience can learn on. I really want to spend under 200 if possible 150 would be great. I understand that I'm not going to get great products at that price point, but considering I'm just trying out archery, I'm fine with that. Oh and of course that it's legal to use for hunting in PA is important too!

I have a friend that uses a Barnett Panzer V. He has killed quite a few deer with it. You need to be close with that crossbow. It's shown in the lower right corner of the page you linked above.

Thanks, I'll do just that! I'm in Tanners all the time (heck the pic of my new gun in the firearm thread was in their), but for some reason I never have stopped to look at the bows, most likely because I have no clue where I would shoot them...and because the guns grab my eye first. lol Great staff there. I had accidentally left my licence and not realized it and when I was in their the next day they let me know they had it.

Re: Can someone recommend me a basic crossbow...

It truly depends on the deer, but a maximum on about 20-25 yards with a good arrow.

If you are thinking about a used crossbow, send me a P.M. with your name and phone number. My inventory changes daily and I'm sure I will have a nice bow in the $200 range shortly.

Re: Can someone recommend me a basic crossbow...

I just got a Horton Brotherhood package that I absolutely love. Light, accurate, and easy to use and maintain. 305 fps and had it zeroed and shooting bullseyes at 20, 30, and 40 yards in only 14 shots. $399 for the package at Cabela's. Hope this helps.

Marlin 336CS .30-30

I have Barnett Jackal. Awesome little crossbow for the price, lightweight and fast. I bought it as a trial crossbow to see if I was going to like archery, needless to say I love it. I'll be using my Jackal again this year as well.
