Looking for crossbow $500 or less

Hey everybody. My friend is looking to buy a crossbow for this upcoming archery season so we can hunt together. His price range is 500$ or under. He is looking for one that is fast. He doesn't really care about the weight though. What do you guys recommend ?

Personally, my experience is $500 can buy you a great crossbow. Now, if you want a fast crossbow(over 330fps) then I would advise against buying one less than $500. Cheaper components and speed can lead to premature failure, vibration, noise and or accuracy problems.

Nothing wrong with a crossbow that shoots between 300-320 fps. That is my preferred range. For $500, look at the Wicked Ridge Invader or left over Horton Visions that can be had for a hair above $500.

I support all hunters, regardless of weapon or technique!

I just purchased a Parker Tomahawk, 320 fps, $499.95, Great little bow, but a lot of good bows out there, but $500 was my limit.

The Wicked Ridge Invader HP is a nice bow in that price range. I've been shooting one and it's impressive. We have a few incentives going on right now on the Wicked Ridge and Ten Point crossbows.

Re: Looking for crossbow $500 or less

I can get you a Horton Havoc for $575. It's the 2012 version of the Vision. Much improved over the Vision. These are still a few weeks away, but it should be well worth the wait.

As mentioned above, the Parker Enforcer or Tomahawk should serve you well. Of the two, the Tomahawk would be my choice and it comes in at $499

Re: Looking for crossbow $500 or less

Thanks for the input guys. But after he seen a picture of the ghost 400 made by Barnett he was caught. He just decided to save another 500 for it. I tried convincing him into arrowheads great deal with the havoc but he insisted on saving up for the Ghost 400.

Re: Looking for crossbow $500 or less

If the spending limit is now around $999 I would ask him to research a little into the Athen Apocolypse. It's a bow to watch and production will soon begin. It's reported to retail for under $1000. This will be one that is well worth a look!
