Outdoor show Xbow impressions

I want to hunt in archery season this year, I went Saturday to the outdoor show to see the all the xbows. I shot the Kodabow, nice but pricey. Anybody else use a bipod on there xbow? So far the two I am most interested in are the Excalibur Axiom and the Wicked Ridge Invader HP. I like that Excalibur can be decocked and is lighter. Wicked Ridge is more compact and has built in cocking system so I won't lose rope. I don't feel like I need anything more powerful than these 2 to hunt white tails. What features are more important and am I missing something?

Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing.

I would vote for the Excalibur, you can do your own work on it,no press needed.

How was the pricing on the bows? Anyone giving show specials or package deals?

You can cock(& decock) the Excalibur with light gloves on, no rope. In fact I would think if you have calloused hands you wouldn't even need the gloves.

I have a Stoney Point tripod for my sons. Makes it hard to miss.

Re: Outdoor show Xbow impressions

I mainly talked to manufacturers and listened to their pitches. I do know some dealers are packaging a case with purchase.(ten point) I saw a dealer selling a carbon express for under $300 and some else had refurbs. I think dealer prices were the same for new xbows.

Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing.

Thanks for the update. I am heading to the show tomorrow. What hall were you able to shoot the bows in?

Re: Outdoor show Xbow impressions

I just picked up the WR Invader for $449 shipped to my door. It comes with the bow, 3x scope, sling, 6 arrows, 6 field tips, quiver.

Can't wait for it to arrive!

Don't Tread On Me is what it says and I'll take that to my grave.

When hunting ground blinds I carry a bi pod. The Excal and Wicked Ridge are both great bows in thier prce ranges backed up by great customer service. Recurve versus compound style is the decision. Good luck.

I support all hunters, regardless of weapon or technique!

Re: Outdoor show Xbow impressions

Gene, have you tried a bi-pod with your Excal? If so, which one works with it? I would like to try one with my Exocet 200 for ground blind hunting. Thanks.
