Much Welcomed PGC News Release!!

Very good & welcomed news just released today!! Much thanks to ALL here involved in our very successful effort in connection with this matter!!

Release #008-12

BOARD ELECTS MARTONE AS BOARD PRESIDENT FOR 2012;
BOARD MAKES EXPANDED USE OF CROSSBOWS PERMANENT
BOARD ALLOWS USE OF BAIT ON ‘RED TAG’ FARMS IN SOUTHEAST;
BOARD TAKES OTHER ACTIONS

BOARD MAKES EXPANDED USE OF CROSSBOWS PERMANENT

The Pennsylvania Board of Game Commissioners today gave preliminary approval to make permanent the lawful use of crossbows in archery deer and bear seasons. The Board took this action by removing the sunset date inserted into the regulations in 2009, which required the Board and agency staff to review the impact of expanded use of crossbows on the deer and bear resource before June 30, 2012. The Board must give final adoption to this action in April.

Re: Much Welcomed PGC News Release!!

Yep. Great News. One more vote to go. The vote was 8 to 0 so I wouldn't anticipate any hiccups.

Traditions only last if you pass them down to your kids!

Re: Much Welcomed PGC News Release!!

Nice isn't it. Glad to see it was unanimous as well. This time we had the facts.

Still one vote to go in April. Boop and Isabella will be leaving but I don't think it will affect the vote.

I support all hunters, regardless of weapon or technique!

Crossbows I can live without, however, the good news is the allowed use of baiting in the South East on red tag farms!

Re: Much Welcomed PGC News Release!!

To be clear. This thread is regarding the good news for crossbow enthusiasts. Many of whom worked hard to ensure this outcome. Those that helped the cause are to be commended as are those that chose crossbows as their weapon of choice for Pa's archery season.

Thanks all for representing crossbow enthusiasts well and for the positive outcomes we have achieved.

This thread will not become a platform for debate or comments taking away from this achievement or the excitement that many crossbow enthusiasts are enjoying.

With that said, final approval is in April. Remain vigilant and stay the high road to seal the deal.

I support all hunters, regardless of weapon or technique!

With Thread being posted in the Crossbow Hunting Forum one would think content of News Release clip would appertain to Crossbow Hunting dontsha think!

Thanks Gene for keeping this on course. My guess is that many hunters do not say in tune with the PGC's releases on a "day to day" basis so may learn of this very positive news here...
