Help me decide

I'm getting ready to buy my first crossbow and I thought I decided I would go with a ten point BUT been seeing alot of people with Excaliburs so can someone help me out with the good and bad of both ? and why I should go with one over the other ?

Re: Help me decide

We just got a Tenpoint Stealth for hunting. Looked around and we liked the Stealth the best by far. Perfectly balanced, better scope than most, and the most compact crossbow we shot. That's key when you're hunting with a crossbow, in my opinion.

God Bless the USA.

Re: Help me decide

Good points-

Ten Point and Excalibur both have excellent customer service. The Excalibur will probably hold it's value longer than the Ten Point if you ever want to sell it. Both will be very accurate. The Ten Point has the best crank, but Excaliburs winch is nice too. Both have about equal triggers. The Ten Point is very narrow and a little quieter. The Excalibur can be serviced by the user.

Bad Points-

The Excalibur is wide. The Ten Point requires maintenance that must be performed by a qualified crossbow shop. Alot of older presses won't even press the CLS & XLT versions. This isn't a big issue, just be aware of it. The Excalibur will have more noise and vibration.

In the end, both are very good crossbows. Each has it's own place, where it will shine above the other. You want to think about where you will be using your new bow and how your new bow will fit you, and the places you hunt. Choose the one that is most comfortable for you, and fits your style of hunting and you will be happy with it for a very long time.

Not only do they seem wide but the are wide.

Excals will be wider, louder, slower. It will be lighter up front, a breeze to maintain and easy on the string and center serving. Ten Point will be narrow, quieter and faster. It will be heavier up front, harder to maintain and the center serving will need to be watched because of the steep string angle when cocked.

My solution was to have one of each.

I support all hunters, regardless of weapon or technique!

I'm a big fan of the Excal's. Yes they are WIDE but bulletproof. I shoot an Excal Equinox.

Re: Help me decide

In about two weeks I should know what the options will be for 2012. Almost every company out there has new bows or improved versions for 2012. There are a few new players on the field and there will be some surprises. Now is a very good time to wait and see what is coming.
