I'm not saying that it can't be done, but with all the energy trapped in the limbs of a crossbow it could be a very dangerous thing to attempt.

You might try There is a small group of people there that make and build custom crossbows.

There are a few models that can be easily converted. The Excalibur Paradox and Buckmaster Maxpoint. Just remove the front end and bolt on the recurve front end. There is also a Ten Point model that works this way.
