Well, I now have access to two new properties close to home as of yesterday. The closest (and smallest parcel) is almost 460 acres, the other is almost 1,400 acres. the smaller of the two is primarily Plateau Barrens and shrubs area here in the Poconos, the other is a mix of hardwood and laurel. My problem is I have never stepped foot on either of them. Access is good and I have no problems with parking or packing in gear. I know its still early in the season and things have not really "heated" up yet. I have the opportunity on Saturday to hit either one in the AM.
Which one would you guys go to first? I don't expect to find the "perfect" stand, and from what I have been told the areas do not really get pressured due to the bordering properties limited access. I know the smaller of the two holds alot of deer and turkey.
What would your preferences be this early, never stepping foot on either of them prior? Just curious, not looking for a slam dunk or expecting one either.
