2011/2012 crossbow harvest pictures thread

Okay crossbow enthusiasts. The 2011/2012 archery season is right around the corner.

Please post your harvest pics in this thread. Always nice to see some information on the harvest such as bow used, broadhead, county etc... Include your story as well or start a seperate thread detailing your hunt.

To keep the thread clean and easy to view, only pics will be allowed. Comments in response to pictures will be deleted from this thread. There will be a seperate thread for comments and congratulations.

Good luck everyone!!

I support all hunters, regardless of weapon or technique!

Re: 2011/2012 crossbow harvest pictures thread

No luck on opening day but did make it out on Monday. I took off to see the finals for NHRA top fuel at Maple Grove. It was over around 3 and I made it into the woods around 4:30. Sitting in a bush in the middle of a field i had some reference points ranged out in the direction i thought they would come. Around 5:30 a buck comes out of the woods. Walking across the field from a direction I did not expect i didn't have any cover that way so i froze praying he wouldn't see me. He browsed the field eating soybeans and finally came close to being in range. He turned to head off towards another tree line. I figured he was about 40 yards but didn't have any yardage markings being as its a field with no reference points so yardage was going to be a lucky guess at best. I shot and the arrow passed straight thru. He tucked his tail and raced to the woods. I sat till dark then retrieved my arrow. The arrow was covered in blood but there was only 3 drops of blood where he was shot. I searched and searched but could not find a blood trail. Knowing roughly where he went into the woods but not wanting to jump him if he's still alive I waited, meeting up with a friend and we started to search around 9. After about a half hour of searching we found him in some briars along the creek.

Not a whole lot to say, but the pics say it well. Had 5 feeding on the acorns for about 45 minutes before he finally got a clear shot on this one. It only went about 50 yards and that was it. It was a button buck. It was a very special night for Colton and I. Colton is 8 years old.
