Re: BARNETT GHOST 400

I have the Barnett Quad 400 and they are very accurate out to 30 yards or so...You will find them heavier then your bow to lug all season and in the evening you will have to come out of the woods to shoot it off before dark into a target.I tried to manually uncock mine by hand and had sore fingers for a week and damaged the string..They are alot more headaches then a bow but very accurate out past your bow ranges.

Also get yourself a target which will stop crossbow bolts. They shoot very fast and can shoot through a bow target..I use 2 targets one in front of the other. Both are cheap targets.

Re: BARNETT GHOST 400

Really comes down to knowing the distance to the target. Any modern compound bow or crossbow will still shoot through a deer at that distance if hit in the right spot. A fast bow can make range estimation less critical but the drop will still be enough to matter.

With that being said, archery is a close range sport for a reason. I don't have a problem with longer shots if the shooter practices at those ranges and takes shots at unalarmed, relaxed animals.

I have held a Ghost400 but never shot one. Barnett is making some strides in quality and customer service lately.

I support all hunters, regardless of weapon or technique!

Re: BARNETT GHOST 400

As with all crossbows....Look closely at the warranty. There are lots of crossbows out there in that price range. Shoot several and see what features you like. You will find one that stands out above all the rest.
