Noisy safety

Barnett BCX Ultralight Tempe Buck Commander makes a squeaky sound when shifting from safe to fire. It is loud enough for a deer to hear at close range. I though it would wear to be quite over time, but it has not. Any idea how to deaden the squeak?

Is the safety ambidextrous? If so, grab it between your thumb and index finger and slide it forward slowly. You can control the speed that way and it often takes care of the click or squeak. If not, try a dry lube first like graphite then a very light machine oil if still making noise. Sparingly is key so it doesn't gum up the mechanism.
octagon, BillHjr and Uncle Johnny like this.

I support all hunters, regardless of weapon or technique!

Thanks, I will try it.
