I first saw him last year. I was taking my daughter to my uncle's place for the youth deer hunt. When we passed my cousin's house he was standing square in the middle of my cousin's front yard! Looked like one you'd see on the cover of a mag. Heavy mass, high tines, nice width. Saw him again a few evenings later after I hunted my cousin's place. I just left the driveway and not a quarter mile down the road he crossed in front of me. Never saw him again.
This season we've been seeing turkeys regularly on my cousins property, so Tuesday morning I decided to take the shotgun and hunt the turkeys.
Guess who walked up behind me within 15 yards! He stood there and let me count all his points and get a very good look at his rack before he turned and walked slowly away.
He was right there, between the two trees in the center! I wish I would have had the camera ready. I would have at least had a picture of him!
He was a ten point. And I have now started hunting turkeys with archery equipment! This is the 3rd time in my life I've had this happen to me. The first 2 times the bucks were smaller though and it didn't bother me that much. The tines on this one were heavier than the main beams on my previous 2 ten points!
