friends today

So I buy a cross bow yesterday after shooting my brothers this year. I have shot competitive archery and leagues since 1987 when guys used to called my compound bow a bow with training wheels. Wow how things have changed with compound bows. Now, I buy this and three different friends ask " why and I won't change over" then how funny is this two of them ask me which ones are good ones and and how much can I expect to pay. One said he was thinking it was a great option for his kid, and other for winter bow when you get all bulked up. What.... five mins. before they were questioning me? Will it take time or do these( and many others like them)need to experience it or is it just an ego thing?

Re: friends today

At some point (for many , not all) the arguements against them will be easily buried by the benefit of having one in your arsenal. Might not be your go too weapon, but by not having one you are missing out on having one fun way to take a whitetail or any game critter really...in cold conditions or even on the perfect fall day.

When i took my head to the taxidermist for my euro, he mentioned how many buck he got that week. First week in November, this guy has killed more big bucks than anyone I know locally with a bow, one of the reason he learned the trade as the taxi costs had to be killing him annually...told me he got a 9 point, I assumed it was with a bow like always...nope he told me it was with his new Horton, but not til I told him mine was a crossbow buck too. LOL...learned a few of the others that week were as well.

It is almost like folks are afraid to mention it til they know how it will be recieved by the other guy. Well those days are over for me.....your buddies were likely eyeing them too, but did not want to discuss them til someone broke the ice. It is happening everywhere, trust me.

Rooster...I am involved in many, many sportsman hunting circles outside HPA spanning a much greater populous & and the xbow controversy thing seems to be mainly isolated here even yet further refined to a minute few chest thumpin elitists so nicely contained/confined within this site...Thank God!! I really don't see such pantyweight bickering such as up in that Darkside Thread etc. when one ventures away from the keyboard outside into the real hunting world!!

BTW...love that beautiful Euro Mount on your xbow buck & much congrats!!

Re: friends today

Most need to experience it first. A few tend to beleive the rhetoric some folks are spewing about them being 100 yard arrow slinging guns. When they realize that isn't the case, they will likely accept them for what the are.
