is storing the crossbow in the barn a bad idea?

If its not in a case i would say it is. I be concern dust build up and rodents climb all over it.

All the more room a crossbow takes up, I think I would find a closet INSIDE your house to keep it in. These things aren't cheap, and the extreme heat that your barn prbly expieriences in the summer months can and will warp limbs and dry out and ruin strings/cables.

Changes in temperature will lead to condensation and rust. I would not recommend it.

Traditions only last if you pass them down to your kids!

I wouldn't. As mentioned before, it is much better to store somewhere that doesn't see big changes in humidity. The fasteners and internals are more likely to experience corrosion.

I support all hunters, regardless of weapon or technique!
