Re: Still hunting with crossbow

Have done it many/many times and my best advice is if you don`t have a sling and you have to carry the bow with just your arms, please borrow an Orangutan because your arms are gonna feel like jello in no time!! With that being said, I have gotten pretty darn close to deer during the rut doing this very slowly. It is very tough but doable. I don`t use a sling because I like to be at the ready just in case, but I don`t think I can do it anymore, just too tiring and painfull. Oh, the bow gets stuck in stuff to if you have to traverse branches and bushes.

Re: Still hunting with crossbow

I do it all the time with a cross bow and my compound . I have yet to be picked off this year and i have had deer feeding 5 yrds from me this year and they never looked my direction. I dont use a blind or anything i just pick a nice tree to lean against near heavily used trails and wait. I just havent seen what i am looking for yet. I try to shoot only mature doe/buck. Had a six point this morning walk right up to me at 15 yards. He was facing me but never saw me but the problem was he was right behind a tree. I grunted him in and when he didnt see what was making the noise he turned and walked straight away from me feeding never offering a shot. Good luck. Its very doable especially this time of the year.
