Cross Bow Hanger

What do you guys and gals use to hang your cross bow while up in a tree?

Re: Cross Bow Hanger

I buy bulk packs of Realtree bow hangers at Dicks Sporting goods. 3 to a pack.

I support all hunters, regardless of weapon or technique!

Re: Cross Bow Hanger

We hunt out of double ladderstands that have shooting rails, so we just lay the crossbow on our lap and rest up on the shooting rail. At first we tried to hand them up on a hanger, but it created alot of movement to get them down and we would get picked off. Of course since we are in a ladderstand we aren't extremely high either so that may be part of it. We do have a hook in each tree where we can hang it while getting situated though.

Traditions only last if you pass them down to your kids!

Re: Cross Bow Hanger

I used to use the hangers you get at dicks. Climbed up in the stand in the dark,no light, hung up the bow and pack. Sat down ,reached back to get the bow to take off the quiver and nock a bolt and the bow rolled off the hook. Landed 15 feet down on the rocks. It stayed cocked, no bolt in it but cracked a limb. End of that hunt for the weekend.
The hanger had a very short vertical bend at the tip and with the quiver on the bow it did not lay flat aginst the tree . Since it was dark its also possible the foot stirrup was sitting on the tip of the hook not in the flat spot. I have since bought hooks with a very deep V bend in them not the shallow bend.

Re: Cross Bow Hanger

I use a hanger that has two fingers or hooks, looks like the black part closest to the tree in the photo above, without all the other attachments. Just bought a few more at Rural King in Butler. Set the stirrup across the two fingers and it works great.

do you have problems of them sagging on you? take that extra turn to snug it up and POP goes he treaded stud... happen on two of mine and it wasn't extended out folded first arm.. right now I'm using the basic screw in tree step.. not much length to hang stuff but solid..
