Hopeful for last day magic...

Well after the old man tagged out with the crossbow, my son is looking to get out on the last day and he only had to ask once.

He hunted alot early in October with me and kind of burned out again like last year, those hunts were pretty sleepy, sunny and warm. I think next year we re going to hunt small game til later in October then switch over to keep it fresher and get a chance to get some small gaming in before the rut starts.

ANyway he is sleeping over at the cousins tonight, and I am going to get him about 8 tomorrow, and we are going to go try to get some last day action. Primos canning and grunting...

Went up today and got the trail cam cards hoping to get a hint but it looks like the bucks moved on to find new does somewhere this week, but there are still does around.Sunny warm and sleepy again up there today.

I love being a guide with tags filled, especially for my wife and kids. Wish it was going to be cold all day, full report tomorrow.

I guess the old saying applies... Too busy fixing everyone elses car to fix your own? Just messing with ya! ( my bow could use some tuning too) Best of Luck to you and your son in the rifle seasons.

Re: Hopeful for last day magic...

My car is broken,it will get fixed. It happens to the best of people that help others just like you Arrowhead.Never do know what the next day will bring. You know archery, arrows, crossbows and such.I do that with vehicles. My son will have his best chance at a deer yet this year.He had 3 does and 2 bucks in range in 15 minutes. He got busted everytime.I told him to hold still. We hunt from the ground as he does not like heights. He didn't get to shoot his bow but the grin on his face meant the world to me.He will get better as he gets older. He has what is needed to hunt.I am proud as a father to see him enter the world of archery hunting and small game hunting as I did as a child. My shop is closed the Monday after Thankgiving every year.My customers know why.It may be the only day of the year I don't have at least 10 messages on the phone.

Good luck John, hope your son gets his buck today!

I'd rather be fishing or hunting!

Re: Hopeful for last day magic...

Well no deer moving today for us...but a few good hours in stand. We talked about or sun/woodstove room remodel project we were working on while in stand...came home and got right to it.

Looking forward to 3 generation hunt in bear season next Staurday with the boy and my Dad...and then rifle with the whole crew.
