I suspect we're not all new to archey

A lot of anti --------/crossbow folks seam to suggest that gun hunters have suddenly grabbed a xbow and entered the woods for the first time. Some are loud about it. They suggest a huge uptick in deer buck harvested and deer wounded. This is a poll not an argument. I know tons of guys who are/we're die hard archers who have killed tons of buck with the bow. They now use xbow. My suggestion is that if the archery kill is up it's because xbow hunters are recovering at a higher rate then they did with there bows. I know of nobody who suddenly joined the archery crowd because of xbow. I'm sure they are out there. I just don't know any

How is this one. I never hunted archery before. I borrowed a crossbow when I lived in ohio and hunted with it for a year. I liked it so much I bought a compound bow and have hunted archery since then. The crossbow has helped recruit many vertical bow archers.

I went to the x-bow due to my age and shoulder problems, not being able to pull 70# any longer.

There is data in Ohio, a long term inclusion state, that shows this to be the case, especially with young hunters. They start out using crossbows and by their teen years, close to 75% of them are shooting vertical equipment. How many of those would not even be in the game if the crossbow didn't get them in the woods at a early age.

I hear it often from the antis how the crossbow means death to "archery". Well, it turns out, the crossbow increases the ranks of vertical archery hunters.

I support all hunters, regardless of weapon or technique!

I have archery hunted for about 28 years. No injuries prevent me from hunting with vertical equipment. I have been shooting a longbow some lately and took it hunting a few times this fall. No excuses from me. I like and use all weapon types.

PGC survey also showed most crossbow users are converts from vertical equipment.

Re: I suspect we're not all new to archey

I have no dog in this fight.I don't ever see myself using a crossbow although IO did buy one for my son last year, but have no issues with their inclusion. With that said,I know many successful bowhunters that have switched to a crossbow.I also know quite a few other people who never hunted with a bow and picked up a crossbow when they became legal. The kill will rise because participation has increased and a crossbow is a more effective weapon.
