Sons 1st deer

Crazy day yesterday. I pick my son up from the high school after his lacrosse meeting and ask him if he wants to go hunting. He says he can't go he doesn't have his stuff with him. I told I had it and he says lets go. So away we go we are about 45 min. from our spot so we get there and we get all set up he gets harnessed in and pulls up the cross bow and I tell him I'm going to go sit and watch up by the barn, because too late for me to get on as it was already 4. So I'm sitting watching nothing happening then at 5 o'clock I see a deer come out of the corner and head right towards him. See antlers then lose the deer in the high grass. The buck pics up the tinks smell and starts the slow trot looking for this doe. He can not get the deer to stop then he finally stops quartering away and he lets him have it 22 yards out. So I watch him lower cross bow and then text him how did the shot look and he says good. So I head over to get him out of tree and start our search. The simple questions where was he what way did he run all that. Well he looks at me and I can tell he is a mess. So no arrow or blood where he says deer was so now he is a mess. I said go to the truck with the crossbow relax and come back down with another light. So he does and why he is gone I pick up blood about 35 yards from where he says deer was. Nice blood both sides of trail so I tell him he definitely hit him with a clean pass thru. So he becomes my last blood pawn since he did not have a light in his bag. So i keep getting blood and moving him up, about 50 yards of tracking I stop and call him closer again and keep shining light under this one tree where I can see the deer laying finally after the third time he says there something white under that tree. So I keep the light on and we go over and there is his 6 pointer. This made my hunting season don't care if I shoot or see a deer until next season.

This kid plays competitive soccer and made varsity as freshman and two club teams 12 months out of the year. He said dad you know out of everything I have ever won this was the best adrenaline rush I ever had!! I just smiled and said congrats again.
Thanks to Arrowhead for getting the Parker tornado set up for us. Sorry for the long rant just a proud dad!!

Congrats!

There is no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid people asking questions.
