using a crossbow under PA muzzle loader license

With a PA muzzle loader license you can take a doe using your buck tag during late season. It used to be you could use a crossbow for that if you had the muzzleloader license. Can you still do that?

Thanks,
HH

No, you can no longer do that. You must have an antlerless license to shoot antlerless during the late season.

Not entirely true. You can fill an unused buck tag with a doe during Second (flintlock only) Season. IF you have a muzzleloader tag.

Re: using a crossbow under PA muzzle loader license

There was a time in the recent past when you could use a crossbow in lieu of a flintlock muzzleloader in the post Christmas season and take a doe with an unused buck tag. That has changed. If you hunt with a crossbow in the post Christmas season now, you are hunting in the archery season and must have an archery license and an antlerless or DMAP tag to take an antlerless deer.

Only if you're using a flintlock rifle. Not with archery equipment, as the original poster asked.

You can use xbow if you are hunting in a special regulation area during muzzleloader. Check the digest for SRA boundries
Still need archery stamp and a valid tag

Re: using a crossbow under PA muzzle loader license

To the OP, simple- an UNUSED Buck tag can only be used on an Antlerless deer if you have a Muzzleloader stamp and are using a Flintlock. Plus your UNUSED Buck tag is good anywhere in the state, not limited to WMU's.

Anywhere in the State you can use a crossbow during flintlock season since they overlap. Of course you would need a valid doe tag. In a SRA, one could hunt with a crossbow during this time without an archery license, since it is a firearm season at that time. But, without an archery license, you couldn't shoot a buck.

But to the op. Buck tag only good for buck or flintlock doe.

cspot is correct. You can't use a buck tag to shoot a doe if you are using a crossbow to hunt.If you are using a flintlock you can.Simple.Buy a flintlock,I did.
