Future deer seasons

I was thinking perhaps changing the deer season, to the first week buck only, then a week or say 3 days of doe only.
There are definately less deer, and it seems at least where i hunt on public land, it gets worse every year.

Re: Future deer seasons

I think that is a good idea callmaker60. Three day doe is what we need. The way the herd has declined, even one week is too much.

Re: Future deer seasons

Terrible idea. Lets just allow the herd to grow again and undo the good that has been done. Three days is not long enough .

When you are up to your butt in alligators, it is hard to remember your intent was to drain the swamp. Stay focused!

Re: Future deer seasons

Do you advocating shorter doe season understand why the deer numbers were intentionally lowered?

Re: Future deer seasons

First week buck only, 2nd buck/doe, and lower doe allocations a little. Things will get decent pretty quick. If you go back to the 3 day doe, the only way to keep an explosion from happening is adding a trophy buck tag that can only be used after taking a doe, IMO. But again, just tweak the doe tags a little, no need for drastic changes. We had enough of them for awhile.
