Re: survey

Just got back From Clearfield.
Private-
deer few
bear OK
Turkey good
We usually find grouse. The lack of fawns this year concerns me.

Scouted a 100 acre clearcut on state forest, previous fire.Good regen with mostly sasafrass, oaks and some maple with cherry.
Very little deer sign but also fairly easy access.Saw bear sign and jumped a grouse.

Re: survey

I hunt public and private in 4d and 2g.

Where I hunt deer: Excellent.

Where I hunt bear: Excellent.

Where I hunt turkey: Excellent.

Do I hunt all three in exactly the same place? Nope. I hunt the species I am after where they are.
Simple concept for those who like to complain to try sometime.

Re: survey

i hunt 1A, private, but most of 1A is.

deer, lots of 'em. can't swing a dead cat without hitting one

geese, everywhere. goose doo doo, also everywhere

bear, not too many. but this is ag country, not bear habitat, so i don't expect too many

turkey, we need flock reduction, now know as FR.

coons out the ying yang.

grouse, mia, along with ringnecks.

funny how things change. in the sixties, lots of grouse & ringnecks. no geese, few deer, no turkeys.

Re: survey

2G public

deer - great (camp usually gets 3-4 nice bucks per year)
bear - great (camp is averageing 1 a year)
turkey - ok (2 guys seem to get turkey every year)
grouse - OK (I usually ambush 2 every year)
coyote - to many according to tracks in the late season.
