2nd wk antlerless. Out of state pards miss out ???

I was, well, still am for antlerless being relegated to the Saturday thru Saturday of Rifle, but what really stinks is that amongst the multitude of hunters that call my farm homebas for the season, I have two friends come in from out of state and stay with me the entire first week. One is from Md, one from Va. One retired, on not quite. That puts some added pressure on the first Saturday I guess. Don't forget, these NR's are paying $25 or is it $27 for a tag. I know you can't change everything for everybody, but it would be nice if these guys could take one later in the 1st week... as in Thurs. or Friday. Oh well, it is what it is. They better shoot straight on Saturday given the opportunity I reckon.

Now if they want to shoot a doe, they will have to come back later....just like the good old days.

As a nonresident, I am in the same boat as your friends. I would like to be able to take my doe for meat on opening day and then hunt for a buck the rest of the season but since I can't I stay the second week which gives me more time to hunt with my dad.

One question I keep asking myself is "what will I do if I get a good buck on the first day?" I won't be able to hunt again until that Saturday when doe are legal.

You are in the same boat as anyone who killed a buck in archery....no doe the first week.....it is what it is...

I prefer my kid hunt and fish rather than steal and deal,

On my land I get DMAPs for my non-resident friends. Problem solved, at least on private property

I miss my hunting partner

I'm tagged out for buck. We're still heading north to Clearfield Thurs. night of the first week. I can't hunt Friday, so I'll just go for a walk, maybe spot a bear this year, and hunt doe Sat. No big deal.

Re: 2nd wk antlerless. Out of state pards miss out ???

Flero,

I do agree that 2A should have stayed with the two week concurrent season. They wanted to maintain the same harvest so they increased the tags 20% when they went to the split season. I don't think they will sell out. There is still 17,000 remaining tags. I agree with the split season/increased tags for some WMU because it give more people the opportunity to get at least 1 doe tag. In 2A it doesn't make sense because the tags were at a saturation point before unless they allow for more than a total of 3 antlerless tags to be purchased per individual.

Traditions only last if you pass them down to your kids!

Re: 2nd wk antlerless. Out of state pards miss out ???

I'm lucky and hunt 3A, still 2 weeks of doe but it does stink for the guys who cant go the second week if your in a WMU that is buck only week 1. I wish the State would make up it's mind, I never understand what exactly they are trying to accomplish sometimes. They sell all of these doe tags but half the people who buy them can't use them. Why not make the first week buck/ doe and the second week buck only?? If the state wants to limit the die kill just don't sell as many tags. Wait all they care about is our $ 6.70 I forgot!!!
