Anyone seeing signs of a deer herd recovery ?

In my area the deer were really killed off from the herd reduction but I think this year I may see more deer in hunting season. Unfortunately I haven't made it into the woods so far because of work but I am seeing many more deer along the road and crossing the road near my house. I hunt in 5C where you can rifle hunt and I think last year they finally changed the season where you could not hunt doe for so many extra days over and beyond the regular seasons. It seemed to make a big difference. I am surprised that it could make this much difference in just one year.

The area I hunt in 2C seems to be on the rebound. I think AR and the split season made a huge difference.

If you have to many in your area that is a good thing. Go out and harvest some. If you get tired of killing them take a young hunter hunting and give him an opportunity to enjoy a harvest. Nothing is more rewarding than helping a young hunter get their first deer. I enjoy that more than getting one myself these days.

In 4d at least in my part I haven't really seen a change. I really do my home work and pay attention to when they are switching food sources. It seems to keep me in the game of seeing them but don't see any more than in years past.

I hunted coyotes before it was cool!

I dont know what part of 5C you are in? I know that there are plenty of deer in the Northampton, Lehigh, and Berks sections of the WMU, and always have been.

Good luck, Tony

Never had a problem filling tags in 3D but this year seems like there are more deer than the last few years.
