Ray Gricar Theories?

Just saw a documentary about his disappearance. It’s a tragic yet fascinating case. What is the general consensus on what happened to him? One other question I had would be regarding the river itself near Lewisburg. Have people actually drown in that section of the river? If so, where would a body actually end up?

I don't know what happened to him or where he went but I think it was related to the Sandusky investigation?

That has been suggested, but I have never anyone show any real, substantive evidence for that theory or connection between Gricar's disappearance and the Sandusky case.

Frankly, I think the best evidence available points to either 1) suicide (which Gricar's family disputes, if I recall correctly) or 2) he was a voluntary "walk-away" - that is, someone who simply wanted to disappear and managed to make it happen. If you believe Wikipedia, there may also have been some connection to a biker gang that had a problem with Gricar.

Centre Daily Times had a relatively detailed summary earlier this year: https://www.centredaily.com/latest-n...209528394.html

This story has always intrigued me as well.

Some say he would've been chewed up by a dam.

Sunbury is also home to an inflatable fiber dam. While it generally isn’t installed until late April or mid-May, authorities say it was in place at the time Gricar disappeared.
“If he got into those currents and made it down to the dam, he probably would have been chewed up,” Zaccagni said. “And if he made it past that, there are still more dams further down before he’d get to the Chesapeake.”

At least one person claims people that drown in the river are found quickly. This person claims to have written a blog for the Centre Daily Times for 5 years.

Most bodies that go into that branch of the Susquehanna ARE found. Two children drowned in Lewisburg in 2008, at a time when the river was as high or higher than it was in 2005. Their remains were found within 36 hours, and the search was no where near as extensive as the search in 2005.

William will you teach me how to write, Cassius will you show me how to fight.

I doubt he would ditch his hard drive and then kill himself or just vanish. He was murdered and it probably had something to do with Sandusky.

I remember when the sandusky stuff first come out, there was some speculation that it involved some pretty powerful people who were involved somehow with the second mile. My guess is Gricar found some evidence against one or more of them and they burried him somewhere.

That's my guess as well but when you make a career out of prosecuting criminals, some are bound to have hard feelings.I always wondered my more prosecuters and judges didn't go
missing.

I had asked my uncle about this, who worked the Sandusky case and put the cuffs on him. His opinion was there is no tie to Ray’s death and Rays death was by suicide.
