Gee Bee department store ?

Can anyone tell me about a department store called GeeBee. I bought a full box of shotgun shells at a hunting and fishing flea market. It has the price sticker still on it. Is it still in business and where are they or were located. I am from the Lancaster area.

GeeBee was located in Richland area of Johnstown. It was a big store similar to K-Mart that was locally owned by Glosser Brothers dept store, which was their original store in downtown Johnstown. When the Glossers aged and wanted to retire, it appeared no family members wanted to keep it going, so they closed, plus that was right around the time that K-Mart and Wal-Mart came on the scene. Since they were not a franchise store I would assume it was a bit harder to compete with their prices. A lot of the stuff they sold was foreign, but American stuff was usually the best prices in the area at the time. I always bought my ammo there.

I gotta go agitate the techies!

we had a Gee Bee's store near Greensburg a long time ago. it was a lot like the old Hills dept. store. didnt do much shopping in there as we bought most of our ammo from local sporting good stores.

Pa.Slim, speaking of old dept. stores .I remember two around the Lancaster area back in the seventies . One was called Nichols and the other was called The Sportsmen Den . I still have 410 slugs from Nichols. I believe the price was around 1.40 for a box of 5.

when they opened the one in Uniontown they had Richie Hebner there, he stood on top of the store roof, at least
that's where my sister took pictures of him. For those who don't know him he played 3rd base for the pirates.
