A Tale, Kelletville Area

Me'n a friend were backpacking along Tionesta Creek and intended to go up one of the runs that come down from Stony Point. Up and over, and down to cross Salmon Creek. When we entered the wooded, shaded, run, everything changed. It had been a sunny day, birds singing, fish jumping, kinda day. Now clouded up, wind, even though the little valley was quite "tight". No birds, no chipmunks, nothing. Within a 100yds, I realized all the hair on my head and arms was standing up. I turned to my friend and he said, "somethings wrong". We looked all around, felt what I can only describe as a presence. We backtracked out to the open bottom of Tionesta Creek and decided to use the next run to go up and over. I've never been back. Always figured a massacre or mass killing may have taken place there. I'd have to find that old topo map to even remember which run it was. steve

Sounds squatchy to me.

I don't have ducks. I don't have rows. I have squirrels. And they're drunk.

Is it the areas, or is it in the minds of some in the areas? I have had that "feeling" also, sometimes I left the area sometimes I stayed, but nothing ever happened.

I think that happens to everyone at one time or another. There is one spot I would hunt but I was always sure to be out of there before dark. Even if I hunted there in the daylight I was uneasy if I was alone.

You canít get them if you ainít in the woods!!

Notice that you started getting the willies when walking from a more open place to a more confined, darker place where you were surrounded by thick vegetation.

Isn't that the typical thing?

And when you walk from the "black forest" section into a more open area, you feel better, right?

It's normal, IMHO. Nothing supernatural about it. Just basic instincts.

Wrong. Squatch.
