If you're in beaver co. you might know the story behind Hangman's Bridge, which they recently rebuilt in Independence Township. Does anyone have the whole story on how it got its name? Or a newspaper article? I think that it was a true story which became a story by exaggeration, etc.

If you are speaking of the bridge just off RT 151 I think I can remember my father (a PSP at the time) Telling me a story about investigating a body that was thrown over that bridge sometime in the 70's. I believe that the a rope around the body got hung up on the railing and the body was left hanging from the bridge. It has been so long that I now forget the specific details and my father is too old to ask.

20 years ago, back when I was in high school, we would take the long dark and scary drive down to the hangn bridge from near the airport. Would scare the [censored] out of the girls. A noose was always hanging from the bridge, and teens hanging out smoking and joking. I never did know the story, I'm kinda curious now myself.
