Re: Neil Young

Well I heard mister Young sing about her
Well, I heard ole Neil put her down
Well, I hope Neil Young will remember
A Southern man don't need him around anyhow

Re: Neil Young

I'm a huge Skynyrd fan, have been since I was a young kid, but I still like Neil Young. Mostly just the old stuff though.

Re: Neil Young

I guess Ole Neil touched a nerve....

I saw cotton
and I saw black
Tall white mansions
and little shacks.
Southern man
when will you
pay them back?
I heard screamin'
and bullwhips cracking
How long? How long?

Itís funny until somebody gets hurt, then itís hilarious

Re: Neil Young

It was also this song "ALABAMA" that got Skynyrd's attention

Oh Alabama
The devil fools
with the best laid plan.
Swing low Alabama
You got spare change
You got to feel strange
And now the moment
is all that it meant.

Actually the only thing Skynyrd was saying is don't make all Southerners out to be racist because of what was going on by some. That song was written masterfully so you can interpret it either way. But they were actually sharing the same views as Neil Young about racism Just saying don't point the finger at everyone.

Re: Neil Young

Skynard was also telling Neil, if you feel that way about the south, then don't come down, 'cause they don't need (want) him there.

Re: Neil Young

True, but only if he were going to keep putting down all Southerns for the actions of a few. Actually quite a few lol

Most people think their was a huge hatred there. I know I did for years.

Ronnie Van Zandt and Neil Young actually were fans of each other. Ronnie would even wear Neil Young shirts on stage. Neil Young even wrote some songs for Skynyrd right before the Street Survivors album came out but that's when the plane went down and he kept them for himself.

As far as I'm concerned Sweet Home Alabama is the best rock song ever written and Lynyrd Skynyrd before the crash was the best rock band of all time.

Best song and best rock band ever? You must be a fan.

I think we're gonna need a poll.
