I was wwondering if it was a 16 oz curved claw or 22oz rip claw framing hammer, would I need a permit to carry one.....

Yes, but if the handle has been cut off to less than 6 inches, it is illegal.

I was going to get a nailgun, but with the magazine restriction, I'll stick to the hammer.
