I'm in the market for a snow blower. Any one have any good recommendations for a make and model? Their are a good amount of them out there on craigslist, but not sure which to trust. I have a good size driveway (80yds long). I beleive I will be needing a 2 stage. Most likely 7hp+ needed.
I ran a gamble last year and held off to save some money, but I think we'll get more snow this year.
I have a 10 hp Craftsman that is a beast. It is a 2 stage and up here in Pike County we usually get dumped on and it's never let me down. At my job we have some Toros that are 8 hp..I think they are Model 828 if I remember correctly..been pretty impressed with these as well.
I use this. With the wheel weights, filled tires and chains it can move a lot of snow. I have $200 in the whole set up. I also have a snow blower attachment but don't use it as its a lot quicker to plow.
Thanks for the replies guys. I have seen those toro 828(???) models a fair bit on craigslist. I was maybe thinking of a deere, but then again I'm not sure who has the best make and model. I was just thinking of something quality when I said deere.
I do have a garden tractor. I have a craftsmen w/ a 26hp Kohler. Bugger is I've tried looking for a used plow for my model and they are hard to find. The cost of wheel weights, chains, and a new plow would run me close to the price of a new heavier snow blower (like the ones mentioned). When I could get a slightly used snow blower for $300. The blade for my tractor is more than that alone.
I have a another tractor for mowing it a husky exact same as a craftsman made in the same factory. I bought this one for $50 with a blown motor. I bought another tractor with a nice motor but bad tranny for $50. About 10 minutes to swap motors and ready to go. Plow was $100
This model tractor is easy to find a nice one on craigslist. My driveway is pretty long and a lot steeper than it looks a snow blower is to slow for me and plowing is a lot of fun
