The next Rocky Bleier...
....has his first football practice tonight. Got the Wee man signed up and his physical for Pee Wee football last Weds (his 7th b-day) He was a nervous wreck going into the doctor's office because I told him the reason for the physical was to make sure he was healthy enough to play football. "Man, dad, I hope I'm healthy enough to play football!" Additionally, he was in line behind some of the older kids on the midget team and they were considerably bigger than him. He kept looking at them and looking at me. I let him stew a couple minutes and told him not to worry, he wouldn't have to play against those guys because they were older. He was pretty releived at that bit of news. He came running out of the Dr office holding his signed form, enthusiastically cheering he was healthy enough to play football. (I think the coach liked his enthusiasm.) He's been bugging me for a couple years, asking when he could play football so I'm glad this is something he decided to do without any prompting from me. He's going to a new school this year so this will at least be a good way for him to make a few friends before classes start. I'm excited for him. I had to wait until 7th grade to play football due to my size so I'm happy he gets to try it at a much younger age. I told him if he signed up, he had to stick it out the whole year, even if he decided he didn't like it. He says he wants to be a running back (He does run like a scared rabbit) but I told him he'll play where the coach puts him and to do so without complaint. Seems like yesterday I was bringing him home from the hospital....
I don't have ducks. I don't have rows. I have squirrels. And they're drunk.
