A Culture of Violence

Just watched CNN (which may have been my first mistake) & a liberal british talk show exploiter that made the mad rush to blame Guns & lack of Gun Control for this tragedy in CO. As I contemplated these talking head " do gooders "a commercial break came up with an ad for the new batman, featuring & depicting a dark insane villan with evil intentions & manical mass murder ways!! I watched 20 seconds of "visual fuel" for our "culture of violence"...of which CNN made millions from the AD revenues...
So...my 50 year old thoughts were of the colorful Batman that so many of us grew up the WHAM, BANG , POW Batman ... Man Was that a remote memory...
No more clean cut guys like Adam West !!!! & commissioner Gordon !!
Then I thought about the chronological timeline of bad guys from the 60's versions of cartoonish flambount "bad guys" like the original joker, penguin & poison ivy... Etc...
Then 20 years later the bad guy group which included Jack Nicholson, Schwatrzy, Danny Devito a reasonable , lighthearted &colorful extension of the original
Bad guys...
Move ahead another 20 years later (present day) & villains are dark, psycho mass murders filmed in dark roles... Heath ledgers version of the joker was so dark it is considered a major contributor to his death! The new bad guy is a even darker & more socio - cryptic & dark psychopaths....mass murders...
Anybody else see the coincedence of this as a over simplified extension of our Culture of Violence & the direct association with media?
