Question Amish Horse & buggy

Ok, So I'm driving down the road and I go around and pass this horse&buggy ,which is nothing new to me,seen many, then it dawns on me that I've never seen an Amish person actually riding the horse. I would think it would be a common practice just to saddle up and off you go.

Never thought about it, but I've never seen it either. It's an excellent question and maybe someone has the correct answer.

Every now and then I'll seen an amish teenager or two riding around. Often at Sheetz. One evening a kid pulled in on his horse and about 100 yards behind him came his friend on a scooter.

It's not really approved in their religion / culture.

In European history people on horseback were typically warriors and/or the aristocracy (which derived from leaders of warriors).
