E, and what it means

Wife was shopping in daughters car. Daughter told her she was low on fuel.

Passed at least 5 gas stations.

She ran out and called me. I went and got her 5 gal. then made her this...

I've seen that little light a few times myself on my daughters car.

My daughter had me parked in Christmas Eve. Went and moved her vehicle. And saw the needle didn't move at all when I started the vehicle. Went and put 11 and a half gallons in her 10 gallon tank. When she got home I asked her about it. Kind of got a blank look. My wife said next time just put a gallon in her trunk and wait for her to call

I drove for around 80 miles with the idiot light on once. Left Billings MT with a full tank about 21:00, drove past the exit for Deer Lodge with about 3/8 of a tank. Told myself I'll stop at the next gas station. I was in full blown internal panic when I rolled into that station in Missoula around 02:00. My brother, who owned that truck, was asleep the entire time. He woke up, got out and started pumping gas while I went inside for coffee. When I came back out he was just staring at me. The pump said he put 23.8 gallons into a 22 gallon tank. I told him not to worry about that light anymore.

When we were first married my now-X wife had a habit of drawing down the gas in her car until is was almost empty and then asking me to run an errand with the result being that I ran out of gas unless I got gas in her car. Pretty clever.
I ran out of gas through this little game of hers twice and at that second time I caught on to her scheme. Since it was her car I just left it at the 7/11 and walked home, gave her the keys and told her where to find her car. No, she could not use mine because it was a standard stick.
