help with housebreaking

Any tips?

Our newest family member cannot seem to get the concept. We take him outside and he runs and plays so we bring him in thinking he must not have to go. Then......yeah, he did have to go.

Only ever did this one other time and iirc it wasn't this hard.

my last beagle, which is gone now, I actually bought a book and that was the single biggest thing I learned from it. they said to take the pup out on the leash only, to teach it that its time to go and it is not play time, all business! also to give a single command ( mine was pee ) and keep at it all the time every time. gets tough in bad weather, but it paid off huge for me. traveling was fun with her. at the rest stops others were walking their dogs waiting on them to do their thing when they wanted to and I would pull up, open the van door, walk her to the dog area and tell her pee. she would squat and done and back in the van. people would just look in disbelief! she would whine at the door in the house to go out or just let her out and she would go right away and back in.

Oh, we didn't know dc21 moved in with you. I suggest leaving the seat up for the first week or so
